Consider Your Ways

Intro:  Haggai 1  Called a Minor prophet cause his book is short, nothing minor about his message.

The people forgot about God

1.    Started worship but went their own ways

2.    for got how God brought them out of Egypt

·        Gods Guidence  God Led Exodus 13:17-22

·        Gods goal  God said  v17

·        Gods Grace God went ahead v 19-21

3.    He met their every need along the way

4.     

 

The people thought more of themselves

1.    Started building the temple

2.    stopped when it became thankless

·        was too hard

·        not the right time

·        wanted stuff for themselves first

3.    told God we don’t have time for you

4.    Haggai’s message was “consider your ways”

·        Think about what your doing---reflect

·        All they did and got---nothing satisfied

·        Problem was spiritual

5.    they found nothing that satisfied them

·        God said stop and think

·        Seek you first the Kingdom

·        We say yes but-----

 

Consider Our Ways

1.    God wants the glory

2.    is why obedience is important

·        may not make sense to us

·        promised land only weeks journey

·        God know best

3.    do we seek Him or His stuff

4.    do we serve or make excuses

5.    v 8 God wanted the glory thru what they did

 

Results

1.    we become less Martha and more Mary minded

·        not so much concerned with details

·        more concerned to be with Jesus

2.    1 Tim 6:17  can REALLY enjoy all things God richly gives

·        as we seek HIM first

·        talk to Him First

·        spend time with Him First

3.    can truly do as John the Baptist said: prepare the way of the Lord

 

Concl:  Have we neglected God that He is withholding from us and saying even today” Consider your ways”?
