How to Give it Away

A little girl asked her mother: "Mommy, where does God live?" She thought for a moment and answered wisely, "Well, dear, if we love him, God lives in our hearts." The little girl said, "I love God, mommy. Does that mean that God lives inside of me?" Her mother answered, "Yes, dear, that’s right."

The little girl seemed satisfied and went back to her playing. Several days later she was eating her lunch, which consisted of applesauce among other things. Suddenly she stopped and, with a frown on her face asked, "Mommy! Is God mad at me?" Her mother replied, "Why would God be mad at you?" "lf I was God, I’d be mad!" "I don’t understand honey, what do you mean?" Marilyn answered, "If I had applesauce over me, I’d be mad! You said God lives inside of me, and with me eating this stuff he must have it all over him by now."

Intro: You can’t give away something you ain’t got. You can’t get the gospel all over your neighbor if you ain’t got it all over you.

  1. How to get it all over you? Must be willing to:
    1. Be like the little girl you got to eat it, to take it in you
    2. Read the directions (Bible) each day get it all over you & in you Psalms 119:11 the word hid in my heart seems to be a lack of bibles in church—what does it mean
    3. Expect God to do something – then when He does you can tell someone Luke 24:48 You are witnesses of these things John 16:23-24 In that day you(P) will ask me no questions. Most assuredly I tell you, whatever you(P) may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24Until now, you(P) have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you(P) will receive, that your joy may be made full
    4. Pray continually as Paul said, pray without ceasing, why look at Ps 34:6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and delivered him out of all his troubles,". David talking about himself, God delivered him from his problems but not till David called out to him.
    1. what about Blind Bartimaeus, was his cry to Jesus a prayer? What did Jesus do for him? Mark 10:46 this guy screamed louder, persistant, do we pray like that
    2. Pray for laborers in the fields, not in the churches, Jesus never said that. The woman at the well
    1. Be willing to talk: What’s your testimony? What is it that shows GIA God in Action? This is your witness. Like the woman at the well she could not evangelize, but she knew who could--- Jesus so she brought the whole town, Jesus told His disciples the harvest is ripe and coming, the towns people!
    1. mine was dead as a kid, God spared me those many years ago.
    2. Didn’t realize it, fell into alcohol and the wild life but was still empty inside. Tried marriage to fulfill the inner emptiness, didn’t work, came to God accepted Christ’s work, was told I’m not ready, got discouraged, fell away, came back now repented of past sins
    3. Blood clot? has God allowed it as a test? All it’s doing as far as the devil making me more determined
    4. What is sin, anything that goes against Gods Laws, 10 commandments, born with sin nature, there is no schools on being bad, comes naturally, kids are kids, true due to being born spiritually dead. Can either commit a sin or do nothing and still sin, omission, not help others etc.
    1. Be willing to be broken
    1. God breaks what He uses

Jesus broke the bread and fish to feed the 5000 Mark 6:41

Broke Abraham pride when He told Him to sacrifice His son Gen 22:2 Abraham love Isaac more than God, God tested Abraham’s love for God

Broke the roof for the paralytic, the roof was a test of faith and God broke it! Mark2:4 the roof had to be redone no tiles

In Judges 6 & 7 He broke Gideons senses, told him too many men to take the enemy, take jars and trumpets, no weapons

Broke the mountains to reveal Himself to Elijah as well as Elijah’s depression 1Kings 19:11

You willing to be broken? It’s a process. Jeremiah 18:4-10 speaks of Gods use of us as like clay His promises and threats are conditioned on our response, repent of evil come to Him

Born again-the old spirit is broken, crucified on the cross, take up your cross, replaced with the new spirit

Mother Theresa said once, she is a pencil in Gods hand, He does the thinking and the writing, the pencil has nothing to do with it but be willing to be used.

    1. Be willing to be trained
    1. Peter was in a hurry, Jesus said your not ready, much like I was told. How to get ready? Mark 14:31 Peter said he would die, but when the troubles came he took off
    2. Be diligent in the call to salvation and requirements

Things like prayer, the one another’s, Bible reading, serving, helping others. The many and the few

Then you can respond to the special call, to purpose, must respond to be used, God can’t choose you if you don’t raise your hand!

    3. Training is a process respond to call to salvation then the call to purpose
    1. Be willing to share the Bad News first
    1. I paid your speeding fine for you, if you didn’t know you had a fine you would be mad cause I supposed you broke the law
    2. Have to tell you first what the law was you broke and how you did it
    3. Then when I tell you I paid it for you, you are grateful, this makes the Good news really Good, you didn’t have to do anything other than accept the fact & go get the receipt
    4. The 10 commandements given to show how God will judge and allow people into heaven. His standard is His holiness
    1. Be willing to share the good news! Mark 13:10 Jesus said the gospel must first be preached to all nations
    1. God loves man and wants to have fellowship with him. The best-known, most quoted scripture in the Bible assures us that He loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die for our sins (John 3:16). If we accept that, He will restore that which we lost through Adam original sin, first sin disobedience to God
    2. God is also in a position to help us as He has control over everything we can’t save ourselves!
    3. God’s position is also one of perfection and His character and holiness will not allow Him to lower His standards. This leaves us with a dilemma that is impossible to solve—unholy people standing before a Holy God
    4. A thought on man’s inability to make it into heaven by being "perfect…"
    5. One drop of dye in a swimming pool full of clear water would not change the color as far as we are concerned, but if perfection is the standard, as minuscule as that would be, it would be unacceptable
    6. All people have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard (Romans 3:23). Some people may think they come pretty close, but if you asked them to reveal their every thought in the last 24-hour period, they would fall back in line with the rest of us.
    7. Some people do live better lives than others. If we were all swimmers who want to swim to Hawaii, some won’t get far at all while others may go for many miles. The truth is none will make it to Hawaii. All will fall way short of the goal. This is similar to trying to provide for our own salvation. It is pride working at its peak that allows us to think we can get there by our own plan or action need to ask Jesus for the help
    8. God in His justice, requires the penalty of eternal separation from Him. "For the wages of sin is death…" (Romans 6:23)
    9. God wants us to be with Him, but He won’t lower the standard. We want to be with Him but we can’t make it. This seems to be a bleak and impossible situation.
    10. Hang on, help is on the way! Jesus Christ, being God, paid the penalty for our sins by dying on the Cross as our substitute. He made it possible for us to have a personal relationship with Him by offering Himself, the perfect sacrifice, in exchange for our sins. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21)
    11. Can’t just say I’ll accept Jesus, have to come to Him, put all trust in Him He will save you and do all the work it takes
  • Must repent of sins, turn away and to God

In the same way, if we were to approach an unbeliever and say that he needed to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and if he did he would receive love, joy, peace and lasting happiness – He would come for the wrong motive and would very likely fall away being likened as a stoney ground hearer, receiving the word with joy and gladness but not having roots enough to stand. He would put on the Savior in an experimental manner to see if the claims are true. Then, when the promised persecution and tribulation comes he would likely fall away. In essence we have told him that Jesus would improve his flight and when the flight gets bumpy he becomes bitter, casting off the savior and resenting those that had told him this "good news".

However, if we were to first bring instruction, through the Law, of how he has transgressed the Law, "sinned" before God, (1 John 3:4) allowing the Law to reveal to him how God looks on sin and how it separates us from Him, he will accept the Lord with true joy and gladness! This time when the flight gets bumpy he will not cast off the Savior - he didn’t come for a better flight, he came to be saved from the wrath to come! In fact tribulation will drive the true believer closer to the Father, clinging tightly to the Savior, even looking forward to the jump.

      1. All this take time we want everything instant:
      1. man came to US at the store he saw powdered potatoes, just add water, get potatoes, later saw powered eggs just add water, then he saw baby powder and thought what a country.

Conclusion: only after we get this all over us can we expect God to help us to get it all over someone else. You can’t give what you don’t have and you can’t have what you haven’t received. Its thru the Holy Spirit like at Pentecost getting all over us that gives us the power so we can go and so likewise as Jesus commanded us in His authority.

      1. has nothing to do with programs, buildings, denominations but has everything to do with people We need a revival in the church but not the building, us, we are the church, the lost don’t wake up and decide by themselves they are lost and need to go to church, I went for a whole different reason, we have to get the gospel message of repentance and turning to God all over them
      2. is just the basic Bible, basic instructions before leaving earth

In fact, there is a lesson for us in the words of the dog food salesman who said:
"We have the best packaging, the brightest labels, the most aggressive sales force in the industry. The only trouble is the dogs won't eat the stuff!"

The world is hungry for something vital and vibrant. It is seeking an encounter with God, which is nourishing. The world needs Christians gripped by a ministry of Evangelism that is alert and alive to the great soul-needs of people today

God Help us get it all over us
