Revival What it Is?

INTRO:  Cant do that,  Never done that way it will disturb the status quo.  We have a better idea.

Don’t need more churches        more TV preachers    

More colleges        more methods        more books

What we need is God almighty himself!

2 Chronicles 7: 12-16   If my People……

So what do we need?

1.    need revival       need revived!

2.    need less forgetfulness

·        remember what God HAS done

·        not what YOU think you need

·        keeping the faith when things are bad

3.    need less formality

·        God wants YOU the real you

·        Not the fake on you put on to go to church

·        Come broken and thirsting and get refreshed

4.    need less compromise

·        Sin is Sin and that’s just how it is

·        Tolerance to sin has corrupted Gods people

5.    don’t need more people, more money more methods…………need a Holy Spirit infusion of life…….inflowing outflowing …overflowing of the Holy Ghost……..Need REAL Revival..God revival

Revival Misconceptions

1.    is Restoration….renewal….and return

·        comes from heaven

·        begins with rebellion….remorse…..ends with repentance and restoration

·        recall….reflect…..repent

2.    Can’t be worked up----is prayed down!

·        Is Gods miracle not mans publicity

·        They don’t produce revival

3.    Not some meeting on the 3^rd Fri of the 7^th month

·        When some preacher comes to town

4.    not emotionalism and enthusiasm

5.    not education learning how to do the job

6.    not enlargement---bigger churches

·        more people---give me 10 rednecks 10 bikers and we can do more

7.    not evangelism

Revival Mandates

1.    Starts with brokenness------get alone with God

·        He speaks …we tremble

2.    is conviction   Recall

·        beseeching----prayer  seeking God

·        not to change the situation…but to change you

3.    is confession  Reflect

·        burden for our disobedience ..not listening

·        seek His face for forgiveness

4.    is cleansing    Repent

·        seek Gods will for our life

5.    ends in behavior

·        change in it  repent

·        do it different----act different-----talk different---you are different----has to be the change-----cant talk the walk

6.    the Jesus is exalted if behavior and beliefs don’t change----that is Man made…not God mandated

7.    2 chronicles is the mandate!

Revival Manifestations

1.    humbleness, honesty hunger for God and scripture

2.    all we said it is not is manifest in TRUE revival

3.    come to be aware of:

·        down but not defeated

·        discouraged but not distressed

·        depressed but not doomed

·        slow but steady

·        small but God is big

4.    fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God!

End: what do you want is this what you seek do you seek what God would have you seek or what you think God wants you to seek?  

Real revival is from God   seek it ask it  find it then receive it   live it
