Salvation Part 2 & Mother’s Day

Jesus from the cross saying behold your mother was His way of stating Mary was to be a spiritual mother to John as well as many others

 

Mothers in Old Testament and New Testament

 

Kids say: Babies are connected to their mothers by a biblical cord

 

Women in the Bible:

·        Full of examples

·        Status of financial sponsors

·        Sat at Jesus feet

·        First to witness the resurrection

·        Moses mother devoted to her son

·        Just like another mother in the Bible

 

Lets talk about Jesus Mother

·        She was submitted to Gods will

·        Stunned by Gabriel at the prophecy Luke 1:34-38

·        Nervous—yes

·        Unsure of abilities—sure

·        Anxious about the pain part of the prophecy of Simeon-àyou bet

 

·        She wasn’t perfect

·        Made Jesus turn water into wine

·        He did it , not His time nor His purpose

·        He gave His mother Honor and listened

·        Interupeted His ministry

·        Who are my Mother Math 12:46-50

·        Thought His ministry needed tempered, toned down like many today think

·        Proud of her son

·        Are you a brother or sister or Mother or father in this sense?

·        Never give up the title

·        John 19:25  at the cross

·        She was in pain Simeons prophecy---

·        He would be brusied for us

·        Jesus gave John a mother and a mother a son

·        Spiritual in nature, played out in physical

 

 

How is salvation explained? What a Mother may teach

·        Teach others what Bible says—someone asks How are you, what do you say, should say I’m Blessed

·        May start a conversation

·        Can explain objections away

·        God has a purpose for all

·        Some say God wont condemn anyone

·        Luke 13:3  John 3:36  Rom 2:4-5  2 Peter 2:4-10

·        God will forgive you  Philp 4:13

·        As we forgive others and recall, reflect & repent

·        God is willing to save you from himself

·        1 Tim 1:15  Luke 19:10

·        God provides a way to escape

·        Acts 16:31  John 3:16

·        Why would God do such a thing?

·        God will punish sin-Heb 2:3  Rom 6:23

·        Sin is disobedience

·        Not all will be saved

·        Math 25:41  John 5:28-29 1 Corin 6:9

·        Do the best you can

·        That wont save you, church wont save you, pastor cant save you, giving money cant save you, hearing sermons cant save you

·        Gal 2:16   Math 7:21-23

·        Maybe later

·        Bible says now is the time

How to Get Salvation

·        Understand the ABCs

·        Acknowledge, Believe, Confess

·        As believers in Christ, we must ask how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation        Heb 2:3

·        Amazing grace, how sweet the sound

·        Must see that we are sinners don’t let Cain’s pride and anger blind you – do it Gods way not yours

·        Bible teaches 1John 1:8 if we deny this we are liars

·        All have sinned and fallen short of the mark

·        Mark is to be like Jesus

·        When others see you they see Jesus in & thru you

·        Believe in Jesus and what he did

·        Acts 16:31  Luke 5:32 , 13:3  Rom 2:4 John 20:31 1 John 3:16 Heb 11:6  Romans 10:17 Acts 10:43

·        All can get forgiveness for sins

·        Not a license to keep sinning

·        Confess that Jesus is Lord or owner of your life

·        Rom 10:9  1 John 4:15  1:9  Acts 19:18

·        You will change what it is you do now

·        Spend time with Jesus, like Mary did                

·        Lazarus’ sister

·        Read the Bible, verses# make it harder today easier for false teachings to come up, all out of context

 

Concl---Mothers see Gods plan Played out

·        Some see that in this life, some from halls of heaven

·        My great grand mother thru her mother , my grandmother to my Mother

·        Some can be spiritual Mothers to another

 

·        Almost certain pain will dominate the scene

·        Mothers never give up the title and  God is there with you thru it all

 

·        Mary was a mother at the start and at the end

·        Rejoiced at His birth, suffered theu the crucifixtion, celebrated the resurrection day and saw the power of pentecost

·        Crosses are different for each family but they come, divorce, disease harsh words

·        Thru it all Mothers never give up the title, there is nothing like a mothers love and that is a gift from God

 

Behold My Mother, brothers sisters Fathers

 

Can use the ABC’s to rededicate, ask forgiveness have God help you get on right track with God as we celebrate Moms not just today but for al days in all ways
