Walk with God or Say Good Bye to God

Jonah 1:3 Mark 10:22 Gen 5:25

Do we walk with God like Abraham, Jacob, Enoch, Moses or do we say goodbye like Jonah and the rich young ruler?

God never says goodbye to us. He always loves us and wants to save us. We have to choose! Which way will you go? What will you choose this day?

Jonah: God wanted him in Ninevah

• • He went the other way
  • Got thrown off the boat, swallowed by a great fish
  • Ever get swallowed by great things around you?
  • Stayed in belly 3 days
  • Was resurrected on the shore of Ninevah
  • What he went thru when he said goodbye

Rich young Ruler

• • Jesus said sell everything—get rid of the junk and follow Him
  • Ruler didn’t want to
  • Was attached to his stuff
  • Was too hard for him

We say Goodbye to God By:

• • Not thinking of where we are going

• • People don’t think about God
  • Some say He doesn’t exist they don’t believe, that doesn’t change reality
  • Some don’t know they are lost, therefore don’t know they need saved
  • Weather you believe in God or not you WILL see Him one day

• • By contempt for religion and church

• • True religion is worship God all your mind, spirit soul
  • • Taking care of needs of others
    • Loving God with ALLYour being!
  • Church—being with other believers--- learning

• • We want to wait till we have the time
  • The time is NOW
  • Make Him wait long enough, he will leave

• • By refusing to let Him in your heart & mind

• • Behold I stand at the door and Knock Rev 3:20
  • Let Him in and overcome the world to sit with Him on His throne
  • Just as He sits with Father

Why do we say Goodbye?

• • Due to sin

• • Only Jesus can help you---preachers can only guide you to Him
  • Turning your back on salvation
  • Disobiedence to God is sin!
  • Look at Jonah what happened to Him

• • People think they can save themselves

• • I’ll do church as soon as (fill in the blank) have a job, pay bills etc.
  • Cant depend on own works, best works are like dung to God
  • Need Gods grace---the power to follow Jesus
  • God told Noah a flood was coming
  • Noah told everyone---they laughed at Him---until it started raining
  • Then it was too late---the ark was shut up
  • Our own goodness is junk compared to Gods holiness
  • He wants us to be holy as He is holy!

• • Because God demands FULL surrender

• • He wants ALL of us
  • Forsake all of the world and what it has to offer
  • Halfway doesn’t count
  • You wouldn’t buy a house if the salesmen said all but one room
  • • I need to keep that one for MY stuff not YOURS
  • God wants your whole heart, soul and being 100%

Walking WITH God is not easy!

• • Not common sense choices must be made—pleasing to God
  • Contrary to our human nature and senses
  • Easy when things go smooth---our situation right now?????
  • Things go bad then we think Him to be a "hard taskmaster" Mat 25:24
  • Easier to do as you want-- then what God requires

Examples

• • Enoch Genesis 5:24  Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.

• • Lived over 300 years
  • Did not taste death
  • Was the 7^th son not the 3^rd from Adam Cain was the 3^rd

• • Noah—who found Grace in the eyes of the Lord

• • God was going to destroy all flesh
  • Was sorry he made man
  • Found Noah who was righteous Genesis 6:9   Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God.
  • Made the ark, saved HIS family only—no one else listened till too late

How to walk with God to please Him?

• • Must have reconciliation with God

• • Amos 3:3  Do two walk together, Unless they have agreed?
  • Have to agree with God and what He has done
  • Lived here on earth in form of Jesus His son
  • Our rebellion, failure to listen, we deserve hell we’re all sinners!
  • Jesus gave us life thru death—HIS he took the punishment
  • Then He provided His grace and Spirit to live in us & thru us
  • He controls us so we can walk with God and have peace with Him

• • Must be in submission to God

• • Put aside our own desires and rebellion
  • Want our desires satisfied just like Adam after the apple incident
  • • John 14:23  Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.
    • 24  He who doesn't love me doesn't keep my words. The word which you hear isn't mine, but the Father's who sent me.
  • Obey His commands all of them, not just the easy ones!
  • • Assemble---even non believers do that
  • .

• • Must be in communication with God

• • Holy, settled consistent fellowship , communication with God
  • Thru prayer---thru meditation on God and His word
  • Psalms 63:4  So I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my hands in your name. 5  My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food. My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips, 6  When I remember you on my bed, And think about you in the night watches. 7  For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
  • Fellowship with Father, Son & Holy Spirit thru prayer
  • Commune with them
  • God lives in our praises—when do you praise Him
  • • When things good or when your in a pit like Joseph?
  • Praise him always

• • Must have fellowship with other believers

• • Todays believers fall down on this one
  • Think church is fellowship
  • Its for training
  • Fellowship is for helping each other do what we learned
  • Church teaches, we learn and then go do

• • Make progress with God

• • Keep His commands and do them
  • • Joshua 22:5  Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, to love Yahweh your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
  • By reading and meditation
  • Thru secret prayer so Father hears in secret rewards in the open!
  • 2 groups of people in US--3 out of 5 (60%) read the bible that’s the Christians 1 out of 5 (20%) also read the Bible, that’s the non-believers

Musicà So do we walk with God or say Goodbye to God? Do we do as Joshua 24:15 says Choose you this day who you will serve, god of this world or God that made this world:

If we say Goodbye to God:

• • we have a wasted life—accomplish nothing our own good is nothing
  • can have everything but with out Christ its not enough & die sad
  • there is a life after this one where you going? You sure?
  • saying goodbye to God is saying hello to Hell for eternity

again I ask, will you serve, god of this world or God that made this world:

• • God that made the world is the one that delivers
  • Knows what you need
  • Will take care of you if:
  • • You are sincere, loving God for God
  • It was God that saved us from Gods wrath to come, by Gods power for Gods purpose---to worship & please Him
  • Do we mediatate on his ephiphany—being revealed or
  • • Write that off as some doctrine we don’t need?
    • Do we study His word, His appointed times (the Feasts)
  • Saved from God, by God thru God for God
  • Its all from God, thru God to God Praise God!!!!
  • You have a chioce today—either Walk with God or say goodbye to God
  • Which do you choose? Which do you want?
  • What will you say when God does ask, what have YOU done with my Son?
  • He who dies with the most toys wins---a ticket to hell without Christ
  • The price was paid for sins, the power given, you have to believe in it and use it, accept it Now is the time.
  • • If not its like a check that never gets cashed could help but is useless
  • .
